Vote to elect Marsella Duarte Serna | Democratic Primary, June 2
Marsella Duarte Serna
for New Mexico
HD-16
A Westside educator and community leader fighting for stronger schools, safer neighborhoods, and real results for Albuquerque families.
[About Your candidate]
Meet Marsella Duarte Serna.
Marsella Duarte Serna is a multigenerational New Mexican who has lived in House District 16 her entire life, raised by her mother alongside her two sisters in the heart of Albuquerque's Westside.
She is a proud product of Albuquerque Public Schools. She attended Susie Rayos Marmon Elementary as a child and later returned as a kindergarten teacher in the same classrooms that shaped her. Before that, she worked at CYFD, where she saw firsthand how state-level decisions shape what happens in the lives of New Mexico's most vulnerable kids and families.
In 2022, Marsella was briefly appointed to serve in the New Mexico State House. That experience showed her what is possible when a representative actually shows up for the Westside, and how much work is left to do.
She is running because the Westside has been overlooked for too long. Schools that need real reading reform. Neighborhoods that deserve their fair share of safety resources. Families that need a representative who delivers, not one who talks. Marsella is ready to do the work.
